Case Study: Onsite Level NDT Testing

Onsite Level 2 Testing for Lancashire-Based Aerospace Company

ATH NDT Ltd have been working with this aerospace company for 6 years. 5 Years ago we designed and installed a Fluorescent Penetrant System. We have also supplied Level 3 services.

The Project

The company had experienced a high turnover of trained and approved NDT staff.

Thus, leaving them without approved personnel to carry out NDT Fluorescent Penetrant Testing at their own facility. This in turn caused longer lead times and they were not in full control of the components they manufactured internally.   

The Outcome

ATH NDT suggested one of their staff become approved to give the company continuity and control.

Tony Heaton of ATH NDT successfully passed the examinations to become Level 2 approved to test their components internally, without the need to subcontract their components.

Moving forward the company can now continue testing their components until they find a suitable candidate.

That candidate will then be trained and operate alongside Mr Heaton, providing continuity. Their components and products can continue to be tested onsite without the need to subcontract, which in turn saves lead times and helps with cashflow.
